Today was a lovely day for a photoshoot, such a shame that it became very overcast by the time we meet for our family shoot today. Never mind, it didn’t rain and we still got some beautiful photos!

I loved the location and the family dynamics during this shoot. It was just such a pleasure getting to know them and shooting on their property outside of Camden.

I’ve always had a camera in my hand, when the kids were growing up. It might have only been a point and shoot, but I was always taking photos. As a result I have thousand of photos of my kids and their dad… Can you see the problem there…there are hardy any photos of me and the kids. Everyone is happy to let the mum take photos as she is the one that always remember to grab the camera.

So recently being able to have photos of my kids with me in the photo is such an amazing feeling. I’ve been very lucky the last month to have some beautiful photos taken for me. By other photographers or even my dad, and now Lara want to take photos, I love it!

I printed another photo that Natalie Bell took for me last month, and it sits next to my computer where I can look at it all the time.

So here is my message to all the Mums out there that love taking photo and being behind the camera, it’s time you got in front of the camera with your children and partner. Please do not underestimate the power of a beautiful photograph of your family as you are today, right now. It’s beautiful, powerful and amazing to have these images in your home. Kids grow up so fast you want to remember them as they right now.

This post is a personal one, mainly written for me. I’m the kind of person that needs to write things down to get them out of my head. It’s not the easiest post to write because of its nature. But it needs to be said, put out there and be done with.

365 days ago my life changed forever. It took a turn that I was not expecting, one that affected my life, both personally and in business. You see this time last year I became a single Mum. It wasn’t my choice, and no my husband didn’t die, he stopped loving me and decided that he wanted to move on and be single again…. wow those words were not as hard to write as I thought they would be.

Reflecting back over the last 12 months, I’m surprised how quickly the time has gone. Today I’m a different person, a stronger person, a happier person. A person who knows exactly what she wants and most importantly what she does not want. Today I’m surrounded with great friends that support me, encourage me and are always there for me.

My children are happy. They are positive kids who are growing bigger and smarter everyday. Our lives have changed yes, but the change has been for the better.

As the saying goes, one door closes while another one opens. The last 12 months haven’t been easy to say the least, but as time goes on everyday is better and better. I’m looking forward to walking through this new door and living my life to the fullest.

My business has taken a slight back seat, in the last few month. I’m looking forward to getting back on track and moving forward to bigger and better things!

To celebrate today the kids and I had a family photo shoot with a friend and budding photographer Natalie Bell. I love the images she captured for us.

[Family] Hayden’s Birthday Party

A few weeks ago I was invited to a 1st Birthday Party. I meet Hayden at a wedding last year and was thrilled when his parents asked me to document his first birthday! As the birthday party was actually held on his actual birthday, we started of with a Cake smashing, some family photos after and then the family party! It certainty sounded like a fun filled day! and it was!

I love these two the most I think, he went from serious face to full smile in 2 seconds!!!
